Prof Altundağ, uzmanlık eğitimini ve cerrahi eğitimini İstanbul Göztepe Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi'nde tamamladı. İhtisas sonrası burun ve sinüslerin iltihaplı hastalıklarının yanı sıra sinüslerin ve ön kafa tabanı tümörlerinin endoskopik sinüs cerrahisinde ileri becerileri öğrenme. Başlıca klinik ilgi alanları arasında kronik rinosinüzitin tıbbi ve cerrahi tedavisi, burun cerrahisi, uyku apnesi cerrahisi, alerjik fungal rinosinüzit ve diğer sino-nazal bozuklukların yanı sıra rinoplasti yoluyla burnun fonksiyonel ve kozmetik yönlerini ele almak yer almaktadır.
Prof Altundağ ayrıca, Dresden Üniversitesi Koku ve Tat Kliniği ALMANYA'da koku ve tat duyularını değerlendirme ve araştırma tekniklerini öğrenerek zaman geçirdi. Biruni Üniversitesi'nde Rinoloji ve Olfaktoloji Profesörü olarak, Kulak, Burun ve Boğaz bozukluklarına yönelik araştırmalara öncülük etmenin yanı sıra uzmanlık alanında stajyer doktorları eğitmekten sorumludur. Önceleri ulusal bir merkez olmadığı için koku ve tat bozukluklarının tedavisi ve araştırılması için bir merkez kurmak başlıca hedeflerinden biri olmuştur. Şu anda bu üniversitede hava yolu cerrahisi ve koku duyusu araştırmalarına yönelik Tıbbi teknoloji araştırma programını yönetmektedir. Ayrıca hastalık için biyobelirteçlere yönelik laboratuvar araştırmalarını ve koku bozukluklarının tedavilerine yönelik yeni denemeleri denetler.   • 2010-2011 yıllarında Mecburi hizmetini Diyarbakır Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi KBB Bölümünde tamamladı.
  • 2011-2012 yılında 1 yıl süre ile Bosphorus Anatomica KBB Hastanesi'nde KBB Uzmanı olarak çalıştı.
  • Genel Kulak Burun Boğaz Hastalıkları dışında özel olarak, Burun ve Sinüs Cerrahisi, horlama ve Uyku Apnesi Tedavileri, Alerjik Hastalıklar, Koku ve Tat Hastalıkları Tedavileri , Ses Hastalıkları ile ilgilenmektedir.
  • Almanya Dresden Carl Gustav Carus Üniversitesi'nde Profesör Doktor Thomas Hummel'in Koku-Tat Hastalıkları kliniğinde gözlemci olarak çalıştı.
  • 2012-2016 yılları arasında İstanbul Cerrahi Hastanesi Kulak Burun Boğaz Bölümünde çalıştı.
  • 2017 yılında Kendi Muayenehanesi’nde çalışmaya başladı
  • 2017 yılının Ağustos ayında hem kendi muayenehanesi hem de Acıbadem Taksim Hastanesi Kulak burun boğaz bölümünde çalışmaya başladı
  • 2019 yılında Biruni üniversitesi tıp fakültesi kulak burun Boğaz anabilim dalında çalışmaya başladı
  • 2020 yılında Prof. Dr. ünvanı alarak mesleki ve akademik hayatına devam etmektedir.
